Situated in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, KIIT School of Law was formed in 2007. The school is officially certified with the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology. It offers higher education facilities, including B.A. LL.B., B.B.A. LL.B, B.Sc. LL.B (Hons), LL.M. and Ph. D in several specialisations. Also called KSOL, the school is associated with the International Association of Law Schools, Washington, U.S.A. and Asia - Pacific Association of Law Schools, Australia.

It is recognised as the 1st institute in the nation that has implemented the curriculum suggested by the Bar Council of India in 2009. Also, it is the 1st law school, which is providing Bachelors of Law programme with 6 specialisations, which are mentioned below:

  2. Intellectual Property Law
  3. Business Law
  4. Constitutional Law
  5. Taxation Law
  6. International Law

It was placed at 14th rank by Outlook India in the category of "Top 25 Law Colleges in 2017". Also, it was recognised as the 12th best law school in the country by NIRF rankings of MHRD.

KIIT School of Law Admission Process

The institute offers admission to Bachelor's of Law programme by conducting a national level common test called KIIT Law School Admission Test (KLSAT). Apart from the score in the KLSAT, an applicant must have cleared 12th standard or equivalent examination in any stream with at least 50% marks from a recognised board of education.

A candidate must have cleared 12th standard or equivalent examination in science stream with at least 55% marks from a recognised board of education to take admission in BSc LLB (Hons). There is no age bar for this entrance exam.

Admission to Master's programme is done through KLSAT. A candidate is required to have completed Bachelors of Law from a recognised university with at least 55% marks.

Those who are waiting for their results can also apply with required documents.

For admission to PhD programme, a candidate must hold Master's Degree from any recognised university with a minimum of 55% or M.Phil in Law in a discipline relevant to the field of research with at least 55% marks.

The selection is based on the overall academic career, interview and performance in the presentation of research proposal. Those who have long professional experience and exhibit research aptitude can also apply for this programme.

KIIT School of Law Placements

The school maintains a placement cell that regularly organises various industry interaction and placement related activities in order to train students. Also, it provides training to students on soft skills, communication skills and group discussion skills. The graduated students are placed in various multinational companies, legal departments and major law firms. In 2016, 104 students out of 113 were recruited.

The institute offers scholarships to meritorious and economically weak students through its different scholarship schemes. Some of the scholarships are mentioned below:

Pradyumna Bal Memorial Scholarship: The scholarship is offered to 2 economically challenged and meritorious students with completely free education.

The institute offers Poverty-cum-Merit Scholarship to economically challenged and needy students. The period and amount of scholarship is based on the requirement of the disadvantaged candidates and decided by the selection team.

It offers merit scholarship to university toppers from 1st, 2nd & 3rd year of each semester for 6 months.
