The CBSE 2027 date sheet for Classes 10 and 12 is expected to be released soon, and the board exams are likely to begin in mid-February 2027. That means students have roughly four months of study left, with practical exams and pre-boards in between. Here is what is known so far, what is still expected, and a month-by-month plan to use the time well.

What we know about CBSE 2027 so far

CBSE has not yet published the 2027 date sheet. Until it does, last year’s pattern is the best guide.

  • For the 2026 exams, CBSE released a tentative date sheet on 25 September 2025, with exams starting on 17 February 2026. About 45 lakh students were expected across 204 subjects, in India and 26 other countries, according to All India Radio News.
  • CBSE said then that the dates were tentative and that the final date sheet would follow once schools submitted their final list of candidates.
  • For 2027, education news sites such as Careers360 expect the timetable to come out around October 2026.

Expected CBSE 2027 timeline

Event Expected timing Status
Tentative date sheet October to November 2026 Expected
Practicals, winter-bound schools November to December 2026 Expected
Practicals, other schools January to February 2027 Expected
Class 10 (first exam) and Class 12 theory exams Mid-February to March/April 2027 Expected
Class 10 second exam May 2027 Expected, following the 2026 pattern

Check cbse.gov.in and your school’s notices for the official dates. Do not rely on date sheets shared on WhatsApp; fake timetables circulate every year.

The Class 10 two-exam system, in simple words

From 2026, CBSE began holding Class 10 board exams twice a year. The 2026 session had a main exam in February-March and a second exam later in the year; the second exam’s result came out on 18 July 2026, as per news reports.

What this means for 2027 Class 10 students:

  • The February exam is the main exam. Prepare for it as your one real chance; the second exam is a safety net, not a plan.
  • The second exam is meant for students who want to improve their score in some subjects. Read your school’s circular on who can appear and in how many subjects.
  • Class 12 continues with one main board exam, plus the usual supplementary exam for students who need it.

A 4-month study plan (mid-October to mid-February)

This plan assumes you have finished most of the syllabus in school. Adjust the weeks if your school’s pre-boards fall at different times.

Month 1 (mid-October to mid-November): finish and fix

  • Finish any chapters still pending. Make a list and tick them off.
  • Make short notes for every chapter: formulas, definitions, dates, diagrams. These will be your revision material later.
  • For Class 12, finish your practical file and project. Practicals carry marks and are easy to secure.

Month 2 (mid-November to mid-December): practise from NCERT and sample papers

  • Board questions are closely based on NCERT textbooks. Solve every in-text and back exercise question.
  • Start solving CBSE sample papers (released on the CBSE academic website) and previous years’ papers, one paper per subject per week.
  • Check your answers against the marking scheme. Notice how marks are given for steps, diagrams and keywords.

Month 3 (mid-December to mid-January): pre-boards and full papers

  • Treat your school pre-boards as the real exam: same timing, no phone, full three hours.
  • After each pre-board, list the topics where you lost marks and revise only those for the next week.
  • Practise answer presentation: headings, underlined keywords, neat diagrams, and the right word limit.

Month 4 (mid-January to the first exam): revise and rest

  • Revise from your own short notes, not from new books.
  • Do one timed paper every two days for each main subject, and lighter revision in between.
  • Sleep 7 to 8 hours. Memory consolidates during sleep, and a tired brain loses easy marks.

Subject tips that save marks

  • Maths: show every step; marks are given for method. Practise case-study questions.
  • Science: label diagrams and write balanced chemical equations. Learn the NCERT definitions word for word.
  • Social Science: use points and headings; practise map work every week.
  • English and languages: stick to formats for letters, notices and articles. Word limits matter.
  • Class 12 Accounts, Physics, Chemistry: numericals need practice every day, not just in the last month.

When the date sheet comes out, do this first

  1. Mark every exam date on a wall calendar and in your phone.
  2. Count the gap days before each paper. Subjects with short gaps need revision before the exams begin; subjects with long gaps can be revised in the break.
  3. Note the reporting time (usually well before 10:30 AM) and plan your travel to the exam centre.
  4. Re-order your last month’s plan so your toughest subject gets the most revision before its gap starts.
  5. Share the official PDF with family, so everyone plans around exam days.

A note for parents

Board years are stressful for the whole family. Keep the home calm, avoid comparing your child with others, and keep an eye on changes in sleep, mood or friend circles. Stress during exam years can sometimes push teenagers towards unhealthy coping habits. If you are worried, this guide on warning signs that a teenager may be using drugs or alcohol from Nasha Mukt Navnirman explains what to look for and how to talk about it.

Simple things help most: regular meals, a fixed study and sleep routine, short breaks with physical activity, and a parent who listens more than they lecture.
